Progression Challenges
In order to get to the next level of the course I needed to do some progression challenges to prove my ability
Audio Theatre
A while ago I listened to Harley Quinn and the Joker sound mind on spotify and it was one of the first radio drama I truly enjoyed
Before I listened to it I thought that it would just be therapy sessions between the title characters recorded however there was a lot more of a story than I originally thought. It followed Harleen Quinzel but there where more characters than just her and the joker. Alongside Harley's father there are also a lot of other patients that harley attends to.
There are a lot of surprisingly sombre moments that are all very quiet and focus purely on the actors performances. Two main scenes like the that come to mind are when Harley gets the news about he father dying and when she's with the joker at the boardwalk.
Both of these scenes focus on developing the character's bonds and personalities which is quite powerful especially with the performances by the title characters.

The main characters are played by Christina Ricci (Harley) and Billy Magnussen (Patient J) alongside Justin Hartley (Bruce Wayne/Batman) and Elias Koteas (Harley's Father)
All of the cast are really good with my personal favourite being Elias.
His performance was by far one of the greatest. He played the dying father really well through his voice and how ill yet still reassuring to his daughter he was.
To counter that I think Billy Magnussen was a lot weaker more specifically as Batman. When playing Bruce Wayne I think Magnussen does really well he plays the rich famous person well, however when playing Batman he didn't sound nearly as menacing as Batman should. To try and make him sound more like he should they out a robotic sort of effect on his voice which doesn't sound great and definitely doesn't give the menacing effect I think they were going for
For the most part the writing is really good and shows a more political side to gotham that we haven't seen too much of it also takes a deep dive into why gotham is as messed up as it is, questioning the psychology of the villains and even Batman's actions. The last few lines fall into the trap of not knowing how to show how the characters got their names, the best example being the "it's fantastic" line from the Fantastic 4 (2015).

Unanswerable Questions
The only way I wanted to do this challenge was in a video form as it was the only way I would be able to give my honest thoughts.
The only question I had a genuine interest and passion about was the question about the next smash character question.
Personal Homage
I wasn't sure what to do for my personal homage so i made a poster full of characters and people that have made a big impact on making me who I am, whether it be something I enjoy or something that played a big part in my identity and personality

Human bingo
Originally I got the complete wrong idea as to what human bingo was and thought I had to find the people from the example image. In order to make that idea more fun I started to write a script but realised I wouldn't have time to finish the script and make the video. However after reading the challenge again I realised I just had to make a bingo card.

Poster

In south park most of the stuff related to "coon and friends" is something the kids have made themselves in universe so I wanted the poster i made to feel like something the boys would make, hence the choice of font being comic sans. It doesn't look great but I think it looks funny and definitely looks like something the characters in the show would make.
What is in an angle?

The most commonly use angle in football is a long shot at a high angle so you can see all of the players and their positioning/depth on the pitch

When showing replays in order to see exactly what happened the camera is a close-up shot so you can make out what happen and look at potential fouls/penalties

At the end of the match the camera pans around the stadium from a long angle to show the crowd cheering at the end of the game giving the scale of the match.

Design Your Own SkateBoard

In order to get the front of the skateboard to look correct I searched "SkateBoard Texture and using the Selection tool (W) Applied the texture.
When putting any images on top of it as a apart of my design I made the image an overlay so that it kept the texture.
When designing the back in order to give it the laminated look I put white over the design made it an overlay and turned down the opacity which gave it a slightly shiny glossy look
I designed my hat to look like the hat I wore in Animal Crossing because I liked it's simple design

Music Video Analysis
Tyler, The Creator - LUMBERJACK
I was imediately shocked when watching the video with how well it's shot and designed. The world that has been created for this 1 minute short song is really impressive and uses a faded film overlay to make it look the footage look older. There are a lot of different camera angles used too whether it be the first shot from a top down view or the shot right after, starting level and then panning up. Certain shots remind me of the director Wes Anderson which my be the intent.

Lovejoy - Portrait of a Blank Slate
This music video shows a man being phsyco analysed but scientists as they're testing the effects of music on the cereberal cortex. The main way they show the effects is throught the sporradic imagery plastered throughout the video, all showing different effects of the music. The footage they use to represent the effects start to get quite surreal as the song goes on and the instruments get more extreme and metal.

Bo Burnham - Welcome to the Internet
This video has a really made at home feel as it was made during covid. All of the lighting is done with a remote in the video and all of the recording equipment is all on screen clearly. This rough feel helps to further push that this song is a comedy song for a "comedy special Inside". For the most part the video is one lingering shot which zooms in as the song get's more intence. When the song is at it's most chaotic it switches to some new angles before returning to the main long shot.

Joji - Glimpse of Us
The video depicts a destructive style of lifestyle with people living in a rundown house drinking, fighting, setting of fire works, getting in trouble etc. The footage is all really fast and manic which juxtaposes the calm sadness of the song. This juxtaposition actully helps to show the effects of a breakup and how people cope with it. The footage is all shot as if it was a real story being told here and real peoples lifes on camera.

E-Lyta - Space of Time
This video was made by someone I know and I think this video is abhorrent. The video has footage played overlayed on the main footage however there is no transition it just pops onto screen. The audio from these overlays aren't muted so there are points where you can hear multiple different bits of audio. The music also isn't synced with the footage so it all looks off. The footage itself is all shakey and isn't great which is especially a problem when there is no shot variety and shots drone on for minutes. There is also completely irrelevant footage which just aggrivates me.

This scene is about 10 seconds long and I hate it so much it makes me miserable every frame of it should be burned
Purely for fun I decided to re-edit the video using some stock footage and footage from the original video

Callum RE-EDIT - Space of Time:
In order to mask how bad some of the footage looked I overlayed a lotus flower over it which helped make stock footage look natural and the bad footage look ok
