Notes and Key Moments
For one of my bigger video Ideas I played Pokémon with some friends and I'm recapping our experience in a narrative and story driven script. We recorded footage which in total averages in 15 hours total. In order to write my script for my voice over I had to know everything that happened during this 15 hours so that the script was as detailed and interesting as possible
In order to do this I watched the entire 15 hours from beginning to end and took brief notes in a book, These notes include; The timestamp, What happened and key script information on the right you can see a video showing all of the pages of notes in my notepad
By writing the timestamps the editing process becomes a lot easier and I don't have to look through 15 hours of footage to find one 2 minute clip. The script information made it easier to write my script without having to keep flicking back to the video to see what exactly was happening
I wrote a portion of these notes whilst on a plane so in order to watch the video I uploaded them onto YouTube on unlisted and then downloaded them using YouTube premium. The full 15 hours couldn't be uploaded so i split it into two parts and uploaded both parts. When I was on holiday YouTube wrongly took down the second part but after an appeal the problem was quickly solved. Just in case that YouTube didn't reinstate the video I had one of my friends download the full 15 hours from my OneDrive then upload the parts I needed to their YouTube channel for me to download, this was done as a quick backup that I didn't end up needing
When I got home I was able to form the notes into an actual script that was ready to be performed
Applying for an editing job
A youtuber I watch put online that they where looking for a new editor with a similar style to what she has. I feel like my style would fit, so I quickly made a short showreel for her.
Below you can see my showreel compiled of clips I have, that I feel fit the style she was looking for
I filled out the google doccument and linked my showreel. When discussing pay I wan't sure how much to set my rates as, as i haven't done paid clipping work before. I was going to say $20 but my friend Pearson advised me that might be too low, so i changed it to $30. I also left a note saying my prices are open to change depending on what she seems better.
